Faisal was born on 16th February 1972 and attended the prestigious
University of Lagos, Nigeria, where he graduated with a B.Sc
(Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics in November 1995. He received
the
'Best Student, 1990 Year 1 Set, Department of Mathematics,
Faculty of Science'
scholarship award in November 1991. He also obtained a Diploma in
Computer Science and an MBA in Finance from the same University in
1997 and 1999 respectively.
Faisal qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in November 2008
and became a Fellow of ICAN in April 2020. He is also an associate
member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
He spent fourteen (14) active and meritorious years in commercial
banking, starting with Equity Bank of Nigeria Limited in June 1997
as an Executive Trainee at the Allen Avenue Branch. Through
exemplary hard work, he rose to become Senior Manager in July 2011
with Access Bank Plc. He won the 'Best Staff' award twice
at Equity Bank for outstanding performance in the Financial
Control department.
He later became Head of MIS/Planning at both Equity Bank and
Intercontinental Bank PLC, Lagos. He led the committee that
implemented the upgrade of the Phoenix Banking System to the
Equinox System, and played a key role in restructuring the
conventional branch-based business model into a sectoral model in
May 2005.
He worked as an audit trainee and later Audit Senior at Lukman
Akande & Co and Kayode Adewuyi & Co over 4 years. He has consulted
for many companies on financial management, forensic audit, and
business process engineering. In 2015, he converted many MFB
financial statements from nGAAP to IFRS. He is an expert in
Internal Control and ICFR with knowledge of COSO 16 Protocols.
He has extensive teaching experience in Strategic Planning,
Financial Accounting, and MIS. He taught at the Distance Learning
Institute (DLI) and Mayo Associates in Lagos, and served as a
project supervisor and examiner at the University of Lagos (2016).
He authored
'Understanding Computer Applications and Management Information
System'
for tertiary institutions in 2004. He is widely travelled and
happily married.
